Understanding Hypermedia




HELLO STUDENT!


Objectives:
The students will be able to:
·         Identify the roles of hypermedia in teaching
·         Determine the importance of hypermedia
·         Find the different uses between multimedia and hypermedia
·         Name the characteristics of hypermedia and its applications

·         Implement the concept of hypermedia usage in real-life situation

As an instructional media, the hypermedia is packaged as an educational computer software where lessons are presented in a more exciting, adventurous, and virtual way.

 It is said that most educational IT applications are hypermedia and these include:

Differences of Hypermedia and multimedia:

Hypermediais compilation of the above media presentation in an interconnected manner. Hypermedia is a subset of multimedia.
Multimediapresents of audiovisuals package like text,graphics, animation,audio and video using computer in an integrated manner.




Characteristics:

1. Learner control. Makes his own decision
2. Learner wide range of navigation routes. Depends on his/her ability and motivation
3. Variety of media. Hypermedia has more than one media (text, graphics, videos).

Computer has ZERO IQ

Given all its capabilities, hypermedia still does not replace life's experience and learning from nature and life. This is the saying that information and communication technology cannot replace the teacher altogether.
